A great first meeting led to an open brief with the opportunity to create a garden full of interest, sights and contrasting areas, where previously a lifeless garden failed to entice you down into the featureless space.
Two major areas with their own personality and style brought together by linking the choice of materials and a journey between each area.
Firstly a stunning grand contemporary P-shaped paving area with an exposed curved area and a covered pergola area retained by a feature natural stone wall. Within this upper area we’ve created the space to entertain or relax, enjoy the sunshine, or enjoy the shade and the views of the lower water garden. The paving, wall and pergola all link with the neutral buff colour scheme and we’ve got a great blend of contemporary paving with our rustic natural stone walls to create a truly unique space with our style!
Stepping down through the walls on a feature mosaic step allows you to take the grass or sweeping gravelled path down to the lower water garden which centres around a striking forked water feature with multiple entrances, waterfalls, twists and turns as it runs and disappears into the ground. This water feature is a disappearing stream and crucial to point out is that there is no pond, creating the ideal low maintenance water feature for those who love water but do not want a pond. The informal circular gravelled patio is a great spot for the morning sun and invites you to journey down into the garden and enjoy the different spaces.
It’s a truly stunning garden which features so many of our favourite elements, the detailed planting scheme shown here will come to the life in the coming years, but even here for November the back drop of colour is there to see. A huge thanks to A + M for the opportunity and an enjoyable project, it’s in our favourites!
