Clients had undertaken previous work to install pools and a stream some years earlier, at the bottom of a wooded hillside, nearly ½ mile from the house!
After viewing Project 52 and Project 54 they took the bravest of decisions that we had to rip it all out and recreate the feature with our style, materials and methods. The concept
The biggest challenge of our professional careers by far, in terms of technical design, scale, access and logistics.
Nearly 70 tonnes of material down a hillside is hard enough, but non stop rain, then rock hard freezing temperatures made it extra challengingl!
And the concept and result? Wow!
By maximising reclaimed stone and introducing new natural materials, the creation of three large interlinked natural style pools, (each quite different for fish or wildlife) a small natural inlet header stream, a wonderful large crashing mountain stream, surrounding paths, supporting birch timber edging, power installed, lighting and feature natural steps, walling and raised rustic patio to view it all.
A truly massive team effort from ourselves and clients to achieve this amazing result, and all in winter! A humble thank you to all the team, not least our clients bravery and non stop help!
Just wait until May and June for updated pictures with the mass aquatic/bog and herbaceous/shrub planting in show.
